Online therapy works similarly to in-person therapy and is provided through the JaneApp. You are able to create a profile, book a session, and meet online through the secure video platform. Online therapy can be a convenient and accessible support for new parents, you can care for baby as needed without needing to leave your home, stay in your comfy clothes and have your favourite tea or coffee during session.
Online therapy is not suitable if you are currently in a crisis, or have immediate thoughts of self-harm or suicide. If you are in need of immediate mental health services, please attend your local emergency department, contact your local distress centre or dial 988.

Coming ot a first therapy session is brave. During your first session, your therapist will review informed consent and confidentiality as well as the intake paperwork that is completed prior to the session.
We will begin to explore your present concerns, what has brought you to therapy, and begin to gain an understanding of your goals and what you would like to gain from therapy.
-
Information discussed in therapy sessions are confidential and no information is released without your consent. The few exceptions to confidentiality are when:
1. It is believed that you are at serious and imminent risk of harming yourself or others.
2. It is believed that you or someone you know is placing a child at risk for physical or sexual abuse.3.It is believed that another regulated health professional has sexually abused you.
4. A court of law subpoenas your record. -
This depends on what challenges you would like support with. The timeline is something we can discuss during a consult or initial therapy session. Some clients only come for a few sessions and others want to come for longterm support. I also recognize finances are an important factor in the length and frequency of therapy, please don't hesitate to share any of these considerations.
